Who is Mounjaro® approved for?

• Adults with obesity and a BMI of 30 or higher.
• Adults with a BMI from 27 to below 30 and at least one weight-related health condition.
• Adults whose type 2 diabetes is not adequately controlled.
• For weight management, treatment is combined with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.

Before prescribing, a doctor will assess whether the medical requirements are met.

How does Mounjaro® work?

Tirzepatide acts on GIP and GLP-1 receptors. It supports blood sugar control and may reduce appetite and increase the feeling of fullness.

What does treatment involve?

Mounjaro® is injected once a week into the abdomen, thigh or upper arm. A doctor will assess whether it is suitable and determine the appropriate dose.

Nutrition counselling can be added to the treatment if desired.

Possible side effects

Commonly reported side effects include:

• Nausea
• Diarrhoea
• Constipation
• Vomiting
