Who is Ozempic® approved for?

  • Adults whose type 2 diabetes is not adequately controlled.
  • As a treatment on its own when metformin is not suitable, or together with other diabetes medicines.
  • Treatment is used in addition to diet and physical activity.

Before prescribing, a doctor will assess whether the medical requirements are met.

02

How does Ozempic® work?

Semaglutide acts in a similar way to the naturally occurring hormone GLP-1. When blood sugar is raised, it supports insulin release and therefore helps to lower blood sugar.

03

What does treatment involve?

Ozempic® is injected once a week into the abdomen, thigh or upper arm. A doctor will assess whether it is suitable and determine the appropriate dose.

Nutrition counselling can be added to the treatment if desired.
